How to Enter Universal Flow for a Magical Dream Life

If you are reading this article, it’s highly likely that you are walking a spiritual path and making different decisions about how you live your life. You enjoy those fleeting feelings of cosmic alignment when you enter universal flow, on the unexpected occasions, it happens.

But what is really happening when we feel that alignment? And how do we enter universal flow consciously? Equally important, how do we maintain universal alignment when we finally get there? This article discusses what universal flow actually is, how we improve our chances of getting there, and how to stay there for longer.

What is Universal Flow?

Universal flow is created when our energy is aligned with the greater whole. Have you ever met someone for the first time to find that you ‘click?’ It feels as if you have known each other for ages, or have met before, but you can’t remember when. You feel ‘drawn’ to that person, you feel very comfortable in their company, even though you don’t know them that well.

Energetic Alignment

That feeling is due to your energies being in alignment. You are vibrating on the same frequency as each other, and you are ‘attracting’ one another. I don’t mean that in a romantic sense, I mean it in an energetic way. The Law of Attraction states ‘like attracts like’ – the energy frequency you emit will attract a similar frequency. Whether that attraction is to another person, a situation, or an object.

Right Place, Right Time

Being in universal flow is exactly the same. It happens when your energetic frequency is attuned to the frequency of the universe, and you are relaxed and open to possibilities. When that happens, you feel a sense of ease in your life. Luck, happiness, peace, love, and contentment appear to materialize easily and naturally. You ebb and flow with the current instead of against it. You receive unexpected opportunities and meet people who can help you. You are finally in the right place at the right time. You feel healthy, vibrant, confident, optimistic, and full of possibilities. It is a wonderful state of being.

The Dance of Shiva and Shakti

In Hinduism, Goddess Shakti is said to have manifested the entire universe, she is universal energy personified. Her consort, Lord Shiva, brought divine consciousness to that energy. We are made up of that same energy; of divine cosmic consciousness and energetic vibration. The energetic vibration of the universe is said to be the eternal dance of Shiva and Shakti; of cosmic consciousness and divine energy. We are that very same energy and consciousness, so you can see that stepping into universal flow is our natural state of being, and actually, it is being ‘out of flow’ that is unnatural.

How Do We Consciously Enter Universal Flow?

“What we think, we become.”– The Buddha

While every one of us will enter universal flow many times in our lives by accident, there are things we can do to consciously align our energy and increase our chances of staying in flow for longer. The Buddha was one of the first to teach that our thoughts are the primary factor in how our lives unfold. His wisdom ‘what we think, we become’ shows us that in order to create the life we want to live we have to gain control of the mind. But how?

Meditation is key to gaining control of the mind. Stilling the mind regularly by practicing Dharana (focused concentration) and Dhyana (meditation) helps us to harness the wayward mind and become more discerning of our thoughts. It allows us the space to pause and choose our responses rather than simply reacting to things outside of us that we have no control over.

“To a mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders.”– Lao Tzu

Vibrational Frequency

Choosing how to respond is vital if we wish to enter universal flow because it affects our emotions and our vibrational frequency. The more we can reside in a positive emotional state, the higher our vibrational frequency. The higher our energetic vibration, the more in alignment we are.

Everything is energy, including our thoughts and emotions. And we know that ‘like attracts like.’ So, by choosing to focus on higher vibration emotions and thoughts, we attune our energy field to a higher frequency. This frequency helps to draw in the things that we want, we find that there is less friction when moving through life, and that is when we feel that alignment with cosmic consciousness when we feel we are ‘in the zone.’

Attitude of Gratitude

One of the best things we can do to help us raise our energetic frequency is to practice gratitude for the things we have manifested in our lives already. Gratitude and love are the highest vibration emotions, and as such, are the fastest way to help us enter universal flow. You can begin practicing gratitude right now.

Close your eyes and think of three things you are grateful for. Now, allow that feeling of gratitude to fill your heart space and radiate outward to fill your entire body with pure positive energy. Feels good, doesn’t it?  If you do this every day, writing down your three things and spending a couple of minutes allowing the energy of gratitude to permeate your being, you’ll find yourself becoming happier and more content. This happiness and contentment are important factors in raising your frequency and entering universal flow.

To Like, or Not to Like?

It is part of the human condition to dislike certain aspects of life. We constantly try to move toward the things we want and like and push away the things we don’t want. The Buddha teaches us that the root of suffering is craving – attachment and aversion. By reacting to our craving, we create a negative emotion, which serves to lower our vibrational frequency.

Attachment

Craving to move toward something that we don’t have immediately puts us in the energetic vibration of lack. We want something that we don’t yet have. We are incomplete. We feel the need to ‘fill the gap’ with the thing we crave, and then, only then, can we feel content. We have created an attachment. By allowing this to happen, we are reinforcing the idea that we are not whole as we are. This idea, of course, creates negative emotions and therefore, lowers our vibrational frequency, causing disharmony and moving us out of cosmic alignment.

Aversion

Equally, pushing something away that we don’t want creates negative emotions and a lower vibrational frequency. This is known as an aversion. Fighting simply creates another layer of suffering on top of the layer created by the aversion. In Buddhism, this is known as ‘firing a second arrow into the wound.’ The aversion creates a wound, and by trying to push it away or fight it, we fire a second arrow of suffering into the wound that was created by the thing we are trying to push away.

But if you think about this logically, the original suffering has already happened, and as we cannot change the past, the only way to deal with it is to accept it and surrender to the present moment, exactly as it is. Sure, there may be some occasions where we can learn from what happened and use that knowledge to make different choices in the future, and that’s great, but simply dwelling on past mistakes and painful events or trying to fight against something that you have no control over will not serve you.

Conditional Happiness

Attachments and aversions are both a form of resistance, and they come as a pair. If you are attached to something, you are naturally averse to its opposite. If you are attached to the idea of going on vacation in the summer, you are averse to staying home. If you are attached to eating chocolate, you are averse to a life without chocolate. If you are attached to finding the right romantic partner, you are averse to being alone.

When we separate the ‘good’ from the ‘bad’ like this, we constantly judge our experience and place our ability to be happy upon external circumstances. This conditional happiness creates resistance and stress because we are constantly trying to increase the ‘good’ and decrease the ‘bad.’ Resistance to reality moves us into a place of suspicion and doubt that the universe will provide what we need. Mistrust of the universe takes us out of universal flow, which then causes us to suffer more.

Meditation is key to entering universal flow

Acceptance and Surrender

You can avoid this trap by practicing acceptance and surrender. If you want something that’s impossible to have, or you don’t want something that’s impossible not to have, the only element of control that is open to you is acceptance of and surrender to the truth. When you accept reality and surrender to it, you release those negative emotions and create space for positivity and gratitude to enter, raising your energetic vibration.

Instead of thinking about the things you want but can’t have, or the situations you are in that you can’t change, focus on what you have that you love. The vibration of gratitude is so strong that it acts as a powerful magnet for positivity. It helps us to get back into universal flow and alignment.

Do not make the mistake of thinking that acceptance and surrender are weak. In fact, quite the opposite is true. It takes strength to accept one’s present reality, to surrender to the actuality of the moment and release the ego’s powerful grasp. It takes courage to be present with painful emotions and watch them float on by without allowing them to take over, or identifying with them. It takes faith to remember, even in the midst of hardship, that everything is impermanent, and the situation WILL change because nothing stays the same. Acceptance and surrender are strengths, not weaknesses.

Relinquishing Control

We create struggle and friction by refusing acceptance and surrender because we feel the need to control every aspect of our lives. We have the flawed perception that our happiness is conditional upon outside circumstances, and we feel the need to control those circumstances in order to be happy.

But it is this need to control that causes the struggle. To see how we can relinquish control and allow ourselves to be swept into cosmic flow, we need to discern what drives the need to control in the first place. The answer to that is fear. We are frightened to let go of the reigns and allow the horse to lead. We are frightened because we don’t know where it might take us. We are frightened because we think that if we relinquish control, we will suffer. But ironically, it is the grasping that causes the most suffering.

That is where faith comes in. Having faith in the universe, that it will lead us where we need to go is very hard for most of us. We have been taught to take control of everything in our lives, not to leave anything to chance, to be in the driver’s seat. But what if it was that very attitude that prevented our biggest desires from manifesting? What if, by stepping out of our comfort zone and allowing ourselves to be swept away by the cosmic tides, we ended up not where we wanted to be, but somewhere better?

When we try to move toward things that we want, and away from things we don’t want, we step out of universal flow. When we try to control every aspect of life, we step out of cosmic alignment. In order to enter the flow of the universe, we need to surrender ourselves to it and relinquish the ego’s need to control.

Inspired Co-creation

Does relinquishing control and surrendering to universal flow mean you should give up on your dreams and intentions? Absolutely not. Your dreams and the things that bring you joy are one of the ways in which the universe guides you. They are a manifestation of universal flow. You have those desires because that’s the direction you’re meant to go.

However, most of us would benefit from letting go of every minute detail about how we will get there. Relax and allow universal flow to take you toward your dreams, while doing your part. By that I mean taking daily inspired action. Yes, you do need to take action, for that is how you co-create with the universe. It’s the forcing and fretting and panicking that you must let go.

If you put your intentions and dreams out there, take daily steps toward them, and trust that you are moving in the right direction, you can let go of controlling each and every aspect of the journey. Sometimes it WILL feel as though you are going in the opposite direction, and that’s when you tend to resist and fight.

But the universal flow takes you to your destination in surprising ways, using backroads, detours, and even appearing to backtrack quite a distance. However, it’s all part of the expedition. Frequently there are lessons you need to learn before you arrive at the destination so that you are capable of living the new reality of your dreams. Conclusion

By letting go of the need to control your whole life and releasing the idea that your happiness is conditional on outer circumstances, you have a much better chance of entering universal flow and staying there. You are part of the universe, not a separate entity. To go against the universal flow by pushing things away or trying to move in a different direction toward something else is to go against your very nature. And negating your own essence will always bring disharmony and suffering.

Remember that you are a universal flow; you are divine cosmic consciousness. The rhythm of universal vibration is your natural beat; the movement of cosmic energy is your natural melody. Don’t try to go against the tide; you will struggle against a strong current. You are universal energy; you are a small drop in a huge ocean. The droplet cannot go in a different direction to the tide. Let go of the struggle and find out where the current will take you; you may be surprised at where you end up, and you will certainly have been enriched by the voyage.
